\n<\/a>“If you haven’t got anything nice to say, don’t say anything”, said some idiot.<\/p>\n

I disagree. \u00a0Especially when it comes in the context of 2015\u00a0Britain, where\u00a0increasing numbers of\u00a0customers and consumers\u00a0are being ripped off by companies, who worry more about\u00a0their public image and less on service and quality.<\/p>\n

It makes sense, when everything else fails,\u00a0to hit them where they like it least\u00a0– in a public forum, and if you can do this in a mocking way it is even more satisfactory.<\/p>\n

I learned\u00a0this with the company, AA Warranties, a car warranty firm who failed to actually pay up when I made a claim. \u00a0It was only after an intervention by\u00a0Paul Gosling’s newspaper column, A Question of Cash in \u00a0The Independent, that I got\u00a0what was rightfully owed – my claim for repairs paid. \u00a0It took a full page headline in a national newspaper for them to call me up and honour what was already paid and agreed for.<\/p>\n

I was happy with the outcome but I realised\u00a0it had come to something when one has\u00a0to rely on a consumer column, (or BBC’s Watchdog) to get what you deserve – and that many other people would be in a similar if not worse position, especially many elderly people.<\/p>\n

It is for this reason, that I am resurrecting an item from my 2008 Chinese Elvis Edinburgh Festival show. \u00a0This item had to be abandoned without proper road testing in 2008, because my venue, Surgeon’s Hall,\u00a0could\u00a0not provide full internet access, despite it being\u00a0on the venue spec sheet. \u00a0This item was to go hand in hand with the Chinese Elvis Great Wall of Fame, which was reserved for glorifying British\u00a0Beijing Olympic heroics, and was\u00a0called:<\/p>\n

THE CHINESE ELVIS GREAT WALL OF SHAME\"Great<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Wall is\u00a0to be a whole page on the main website, where ChineseElvis simply openly mocks companies who have given him or his friends\/ fans bad service. \u00a0It could be popular. \u00a0It\u00a0may just sit there in a corner of the internet, unvisited. \u00a0But it will at least be satisfying and a blow for the little person. \u00a0Not to mention, you will be surprised how many hits my website gets.<\/p>\n

If you have a candidate for the Great Wall of Shame, please send me details and supporting evidence. \u00a0A list will be compiled. \u00a0It will be posted on the wall. \u00a0The Wall of Shame. \u00a0 Shame on those on it.<\/p>\n
